Dr. Korrel Kanoy—Emotional Intelligence Expert & Children's Book Author

Dr. Korrel Kanoy Big Emotional Intelligence Korrel Kanoy, author of Annie’s Lost Hat, earned her doctorate in child development and family studies. During her distinguished career as a psychology professor of more than 25 years, Korrel has taught college courses on emotional intelligence, child development, and general psychology. One of her strongest passions has been to not only help college students understand children’s development, but to apply that knowledge in meaningful and beneficial ways. Winner of the highest teaching and faculty awards given at Peace College, Dr. Kanoy has gone on to publish many academic and parenting magazine articles about children’s development and relationships with their parents. As a parent herself and an expert in emotional intelligence, Korrel understands the important role parents, teachers and other adult role models play in children’s lives and thus, she writes a special section in each book just for you.

Her mission is to supply kids with the emotional intelligence skills to succeed in school, at home, and into adulthood. Korrel lives in Durham, NC with her husband and two dogs, one of whom inspired Boomer from Annie’s Lost Hat.
